OUR PASTORS

 

 

He didn’t want anything to do with the things of God.  You might have called him angry,  a rebel, on the fringes of society and that he ran with the wrong crowd.  He vehemently rejected the gospel several times.  In his own words, he was a “good sinner” – that is, until a personal crisis triggered his surrender to God.

 

She grew up faithful in the church. You might have called her a “good person,” or a model citizen.  Although she had accepted Jesus as a child, she had to confront the reality of her beliefs as a young adult.  Did she believe just because that’s how she grew up?  She went through her own time of testing and made the conscious choice to continue serving God. 

 

They first met in 1995 in a Christian Book store, owned by Carrie's parents where John was buying his very first Bible.  You might say that “opposites attract” and “the rest is history”.  Although very different in backgrounds and life experiences, they had the common connection in their desire to follow God.  Their very differences make them a powerful combination to reach all types of people for God. 

 

Early into their marriage they sensed the call of God on their life and prior to answering that call, they spent over five years in preparation at the right hand of their pastor, serving in various roles and responsibilities. Because of the excellent training and impartation, the call to the pastoral ministry became unmistakably clear. In 2001 they left the Niagara region for Tulsa, Oklahoma and spent the next two years  in intensive study at Rhema Bible Training Centre under the tutelage of the late Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin, graduating  in May of 2003. While at Bible School John and Carrie furthered their ministerial training by volunteering and serving in various capacities under the Pastor of Rhema Bible Church,  Rev. Kenneth W. Hagin.  Shortly after they returned to Canada they were led into the pastorate of Oasis of Faith Worship Centre and were inducted by the church’s founders in February 2004. 

 

Pastor John is passionate about the power of the Word of God to impact people’s lives for the better.  He has worked in the automotive industry for over 25 years and knows the joys of commuting.  In his spare time you may see him riding his Harley on the highway  or occasionally playing the drums for the church service.

 

Pastor Carrie is fully convinced of the power of prayer and the God’s faithfulness to answer prayer.  She has a college education in business which she put to use in both the corporate world and in retail business ownership.  She is now focusing her time on pastoring and the rewards of raising three children.

 

Together, Pastors John and Carrie bring a variety of life experiences and perspectives to the people at Oasis of Faith as they preach, teach, and demonstrate the Word of God.
