WHO WE ARE
A Concise History of Oasis of Faith Worship Centre

From our humble beginning at the Oak Ridges Community Centre to now, our church is the story of prayer and of God’s faithfulness. Responding to the direction of Holy Spirit, founding pastors Rev. Kees and Faith Tengnagel knew it was time to plant their 7th church. Together with 3 other people they began to pray regularly for the new work. Within 3 months, on January 6, 2002, they held the first service of Oasis of Faith Worship Centre.
For the next year and a half Oasis was a “church in a box”, setting up for services every Sunday at a local community centre.

Then, in response to prayer, the Lord provided Oasis with its own space in an old school building. The owner did not originally plan to lease the building for more than six months, but thanks to God’s favour, Oasis called that building home for 6 years.
During that time the Tengnagels were called to plant another church and began to pray for new pastors for Oasis. The result was a divine appointment with John and Carrie Rakich who were inducted as the Pastors of Oasis on February 1, 2004.

In February 2011 the church received notice that their lease was expiring. If you looked at the size of the church’s “Building Fund” at the time, it would seem that the only option was to look for another place to rent. Once again, the church went to prayer and the Lord made provision for Oasis to purchase its own property. Oasis moved into its current building, located at 1260 Journey's End Circle in Newmarket Ontario in July 2011.
